How does Heat Management prevent Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI)
In most oil and gas processes, the hydrocarbons produced from the reservoir undergo various stages of processing that may add heat to or release heat from the fluid to yield the desired products for export in a safe and efficient manner. Proper heat management, i.e. management of the heat flow throughout the process, can be critical in mitigating risks such as wax formation, optimizing the cost of utilities, preventing corrosion under insulation (CUI) and helping to minimize the overall cost of maintenance.
In this presentation, we will showcase how East101 was able to save our client significant maintenance costs by using process simulation technology to perform a Heat Management Study which analyzed where it was feasible to remove insulation in areas where the cost of CUI was greater than the heat lost to ambient conditions.
We also discuss how East101’s approach to dynamic simulation enables us to get the best value out of the process simulation software we use.
